Spring break! Time to hit the beach and do a little light reading. While you’re building castles in the sand, here’s a fun little creeper to keep you warm, free this weekend.
A hard-boiled detective takes on a mummy-like monster in this nod to film noir classics like THE MALTESE FALCOLN and THE MUMMY. This teleplay was written as a spec script for the MONSTERS anthology series in the late 1980s. The script was warmly received by the TV show’s producer, Richard P. Rubenstein, who sent me some kind notes. Alas, he passed away before the conversation could continue. Both silly and scary, this story is best imagined in black-and-white.
